Taught by the Bridges Academy cooking teacher, this hands-on class helps students build essential cooking skills for future independence while exploring food as a reflection of culture, climate, and local resources around the world. Using an inquiry-based approach, students help select simple, foundational dishes from different countries and learn how geography, weather, and available ingredients shape traditional cuisines. With instructor guidance, students practice planning, prepping, cooking, and cleaning as part of a shared kitchen experience. Responsibilities are divided equitably so everyone contributes to creating nutritious meals, fostering collaboration, cultural curiosity, and practical life skills.
