CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF! Come and learn everything you need to know to become a private pilot. We will cover topics including how to read an aviation chart (i.e., maps), how to conduct a weight and balance (so your plane gets off the runway), aeromedical factors (like hypoxia and visual illusions), air regulations (how come I can’t fly over Dodger Stadium?), systems (engines, instruments, control surfaces and carb ice – oh my), weather (thunderstorms are bad), aerodynamics and flight maneuvers (who is this guy, Bernoulli?), how to plan a flight (why do I have to go to Newark?), and finally, we will learn flight maneuvers on a sim app and examine flying movies and their accuracy (or not!) with Airline Transport Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor LAURA BOWELL.
