When a student is accepted at Bridges Academy, our staff educational therapist takes all the material collected during the application process and has an intake with families to create a LearningPrint™ for each student. These blueprints are fluid documents that teachers refer to as they create learning environments that address a student’s ability areas and challenges — both within the regular curriculum — as well as enrichment and talent development opportunities, along with outside support for social-emotional or learning needs

IEPs and 504s, while often part of a 2e student’s learning plan before coming to Bridges, tend to focus on the weaknesses, as they are designed to bring a student up to grade level. Rarely is there any recommendation for integrating enrichment or talent development opportunities.

Multiple Perspectives Model

Bridges recognizes that in order to educate twice-exceptional students, educators must take a myriad of variables into consideration. The Bridges Academy student-centered Multiple Perspectives Model dynamically and simultaneously addresses seven highly complex critical educational variables necessary in understanding the whole child: gifts & talents, interests, family context, developmental asynchrony, social & emotional profiles, and learning differences
