Bridges Academy is dedicated to understanding and educating gifted and highly gifted students with learning differences (twice-exceptional or 2e students) and fostering a successful academic and social experience for our students and the broader community. We do this through the work of two divisions: Bridges Academy (LA) and The Center for Twice-Exceptional Research and Professional Development (The 2e Center).
Bridges Academy is a college preparatory school for gifted, 2e students in Studio City, Calif., and online.
Our Students
Bridges Academy educates a diverse group of gifted and highly gifted students with a range of strengths, interests, and learning differences. We refer to these students as twice-exceptional or 2e. We have specialized in the education of 2e students for over 25 years.

Current Openings
Upper Elementary & Middle School Teaching Intern
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Support students and teacher during class time
● Prepare and organize instructional materials, assist with grading, manage behavior
● Supervise students during non-class time
● Occasional group as well as one-on-one instruction
● Possibility of teaching a specialized class in an area of student interest
Required education and experience:
● An associate’s degree or higher
● Some experience working with 4th-8th grade students
High School Biology Teacher
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Teaching 3 sections of biology using a gifted, strength-based lens
● Teaching 1-2 electives or 1-2 student-driven independent study courses, depending on need
● Advising a group of high school students (maximum 8)
● Supervise students during non-class time on a rotating basis
Required education and experience:
● A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; graduate degree and/or teaching credential preferred
● 3-5 years classroom teaching experience; work with gifted students preferred
Long-Term Substitute High School History
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Teaching 2 sections of 10th-11th grade history using a strength-based lens
- Advising a group of 8 students
- Supervising students during breaks and lunch time
- Chaperoning field trips and other excursions
- Participating in division, department, grade level, and all school meetings
Required education and experience:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university; graduate degree and/or teaching credential preferred
Teaching Intern
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support students and teacher during class time

- Supervise students during non-class time

Elementary Long-Term Substitute
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Implementing project-based learning experiences guided by students’ strengths,
talents, and interests - Planning for students’ language, literacy, and numeracy development
- Working with two assistant teachers
- Advising a group of 5-6 students
- Supervising students during recess and lunch time
- Chaperoning field trips and other excursions
- Participating in division, department, grade level, and all school meetings
Required education and experience:
- Multi-subject teaching credential and bachelor’s degree in education or related field;
master’s degree preferred - Previous teaching experience with a progressive, constructivist orientation; work with
gifted students preferred
Third/Fourth Grade Teacher
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Designing and implementing project-based learning experiences guided by students’
strengths, talents, and interests - Planning for students’ language, literacy, and numeracy development
- Supporting and coaching two assistant teachers
- Advising a group of 8 students
- Supervising students during recess and lunch time
- Chaperoning field trips and other excursions
- Participating in division, department, grade level, and all school meetings
Required education and experience:
- Multi-subject teaching credential and bachelor’s degree in education or related field;
master’s degree preferred - 3-5 years teaching experience with a progressive, constructivist orientation; work with
gifted students preferred
- Lead teaching science classes
- Teaching an elective
- Team teaching with other faculty in a supporting role during some periods
- Advising a group of 9 students
- Supervising students during recess and lunch time
- Chaperoning field trips and other excursions
- Participating in division, department, grade level, and all school meetings
- Bachelor’s degree in science and/or elementary education; teaching credential or master’s degree preferred
- Previous teaching experience with a progressive, constructivist orientation; work with gifted students preferred
- Designing and implementing project-based learning experiences in Photoshop, Animate, 3D Modeling and Animation, Scratch, Python, Java, Javascript, and Godot, guided by students’ strengths, talents, and interests. One of these classes may be taught online
- Planning for students’ technical literacy, computational thinking, and software proficiency
- Robotics program co-instructor
- Advising a group of 8 students
- Supervising students during recess and lunch time
- Chaperoning field trips and other excursions
- Participating in division, department, grade level, and all school meetings
- Single-subject teaching credential (or equivalent) and bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years teaching experience with a progressive, constructivist orientation; work with gifted students preferred.
- Proven proficiency in teaching a diverse stack of creative and technical tools, specifically Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Animate), block-based coding (Scratch), 3D animation and modeling, and high-level programming (Python/Javascript/Godot).
After School Music Teacher (Grades 3-12)
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead instruction for Bridges Academy’s school-wide music program for students in Grades 3–12 through after-school bands, instrument workshops, ensembles, and performance opportunities.
- Work in partnership with the Director of Co-Curricular Programs and the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair to reimagine and expand the music program, increasing student participation, engagement, and opportunities for authentic artistic expression.
- Develop and facilitate engaging music experiences that support students with a wide range of interests, skill levels, and musical backgrounds.
- Lead rehearsals and prepare students for multiple performances and showcases throughout the school year, both on campus and in the broader community.
- Create opportunities for students to share their talents through concerts, assemblies, exhibitions, community events, and collaborative interdisciplinary projects.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive musical community that encourages creativity, risk-taking, collaboration, and personal growth.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Performing Arts, Arts Administration, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
- Teaching credential (or equivalent professional experience) preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience teaching music, directing ensembles, leading performing arts programs, or working with youth in educational or community-based settings.
- Demonstrated experience teaching instrumental music, leading ensembles, coaching student musicians, and/or facilitating music workshops.
- Experience planning performances, concerts, showcases, or other authentic opportunities for students to share their work.
- Experience working with gifted, neurodiverse, and/or diverse learners preferred.
Classroom Assistant – Social-Emotional Support
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support students in the classroom with co-regulation and one-on-one instruction
- Supervise students during non-class time (recess, lunch, etc.)
- Lead small student groups and assist with projects
- Possibility of co-teaching a specialized class in an area of student interest
- Chaperone field trips and other excursions/activities
- Participate in case conferences, as well as division, department, and all-school meetings
Required education and experience:
- An associate’s degree or higher
- Experience working students age 9-13
Teaching Assistant
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
