Academic Support and Advisory Program

Whether it is to promote growth in a specific area, to help navigate complex social interactions, or to cultivate strengths, interests, or gifts, our Academic and Advisory (ASA) program provides students with the support they need to reach their full potential

Grades 4-6: Advisory

Advisory occurs at the end of the day, Monday through Friday, where students are encouraged to share their experience of the day, good or bad, and will often cover more direct instruction in social and emotional learning. While we infuse these topics into every class and every moment of the day, we also take the time to focus specifically on development of social and emotional intelligence and executive functioning. Topics include, but are not limited to, teamwork, community building, hygiene, nutrition, public speaking, budgeting, finance, and civics. Students and advisors develop rich, collaborative relationships that support the students and families throughout the year.

Grades 7-12: Academic Support and Advisory, or ASA

ASA is the program’s advisory and student support block, designed to help students build the skills, habits, and self-awareness they need to thrive as twice-exceptional learners. Students work regularly with their Bridges advisor who serves as a consistent point of connection for academic progress, executive functioning, goal setting, and overall school engagement.

Students may use the time to get organized, complete assignments, develop planning and self-advocacy strategies, review academic progress, and think about longer-term college, career, and interest pathways. The block can also be used for community-building activities, presentations, assessments, and other programming that supports students across the Bridges experience.
