Museum Day a Big Success
On Tuesday, December 15, Bridges Academy Middle Schoolers welcomed more than 75 family and friends to their first Museum Day. Students presented outstanding fall projects in four museum rooms: Math, Science, Humanities, and Art/Drama/Media Technology. Sasha Presburger, a 6th grader, called everyone to attention with a rousing trumpet solo. Guests enjoyed coffee and muffins in the theate rcourtyard as they walked around tables displaying student art work. Highlights of Museum Day included film trailers of the novel The Giver ; utopia projects; a 3D model and explanation of the Fibonacci Sequence; virtual science museums; 3D biomes; Catalina Island projects; Media Tech demonstrations including rotoscopes and animation; and live improv. Presentations highlighted student ability to think critically, write clearly, present professionally and speak confidently. Taped segments of Museum Day will be stored on student websites to demonstrate their fall 2009 work.
